About
The German tenor is paying a return visit to avenue Montaigne with a recital in a genre in which his knowledge and mastery is unrivalled – Viennese operetta. But this repertoire, which gives the impression of being as frothy as a champagne bubble, is deceptive and requires great subtlety in its performance in order to maintain this impression of lightness. According to Kaufmann, “however difficult the piece may be, operetta singing must always appear effortless, relaxed and natural. You also have to stay alert and supple as an actor so that you can react spontaneously. I find this tremendous fun.” Let’s not hesitate to have some fun with him.
