About
Franco Fagioli is one of those singers who cannot be summed up in a single word. The scope of his vocal effects, his unashamed virtuosity, and his sense of the dramatic make him an exceptional performer in many respects. Masterpieces and a few rarities from the baroque period – for example his Artaserse by Vinci a few years ago or his more recent dazzling Sextus in Giulio Cesare – are his music of choice both onstage and in the recording studio, as he shifts seamlessly from the contralto to the soprano register. For this recital, however, he has chosen to mix his favourite baroque composers with some of the great representatives of the bel canto genre. This is yet further proof of his curiosity about repertoire and vocal effects.
