About
The grandiose Messiah is undoubtedly the most frequently performed oratorio in the history of sacred music. The libretto stands in sharp contrast to other works in this genre by the composer. Rather than expose the dramatic elements, the text of The Messiah focuses mainly on the themes of prophecy and meditation. Looking beyond the ultra-famous “Hallelujah” chorus, the score illustrates the full splendour of Handel’s orchestral and choral writing in all three of its parts.
