About
Aside from the incomparable Boléro and the famous Pavane pour une infante défunte, the Orchestre National de Lille will celebrate Ravel by straying off the beaten track. While piano aficionados may know the Concerto in G major off by heart, they will be keen to hear Nikolai Lugansky, who does not often perform this repertoire. Enthusiasts of less frequently performed pieces will be delighted to see Germaine Tailleferre, who became close to the Basque composer during the Groupe des Six period, included on the programme. Curious listeners will be bewitched once again by the orientalism of Antar – music for the stage adapted from a score by Rimsky-Korsakov – which will force the “Northern” musicians to draw on the full range of their orchestral palette. Joshua Weilerstein will accompany Charles Berling for the text added by Amin Maalouf in 2014. Have a good trip!
