About
“March to the Scaffold”, “Dream of the Witches Sabbath” – the Symphonie Fantastique is the perfect way to bring the Monsters and Marvels series to a close. Chills are guaranteed with the expressive 1830s period instruments played by Les Siècles, especially as the orchestra are no strangers to Berlioz. This symphony has already been recorded twice by the musicians, setting the gold standard for Berlioz. Alongside this famous piece on the programme, is another “hit” from the early 19th century, but from Germany this time. Beethoven’s Concerto for Violin features the maestro of the bow, Isabelle Faust, whose historically-informed playing style is perfectly aligned with that of Les Siècles, in concert and in the recording studio. Italian conductor Antonella Manacorda, who is much sought after for this repertoire, will complete this cast of high-end musicians. Last but not least: the Third annual rendez-vous for the premiere of the work by the Pisar Prize winner. We will hear The Language That All Things Speak by this year’s winner, Hannibal Vidal.
