Trio Wanderer
A new Sunday rendez-vous with Trio Wanderer on French soil.
Dates
Lalo Piano Trio op. 26
Ravel Trio in A minor
About
Longtime regulars at the Sunday Morning Concerts organized by Jeanine Roze, Trio Wanderer continue this Sunday morning ritual. We recall the wonderful programmes in recent years devoted to Schubert, Haydn, and Beethoven in particular. They are now back with an entirely French programme. The 19th century favoured the piano and has bequeathed many chamber music gems in which this instrument is the star. This also applies to the rare trio by Lalo (in concert) where the keyboard is on a par with the strings. Several decades later, Ravel would also devote himself to this formation and, as with all his mature chamber music works, he was an innovator in terms of traditional forms and techniques. He used the historicist model (the passacaglia from the baroque form, for example) to develop totally new and wildly demanding patterns.
