About

Alongside Bach’s Passions, his Weihnachtsoratorium is one of the most frequently performed great choral works in the entire history of scared music. The Weihnachtsoratorium, which is divided into cantatas, opens with the birth of Jesus and concludes with the adoration of the Magi, and was originally intended to be performed over six consecutive days. The work draws heavily on the Gospels of St Luke and St Matthew and offers one of the most masterful examples of Bach’s craft.
